A Memorable Job Interview

Sorry Plinky I never had a job interview.I go married really young started family.But then when my husband retired from military ,we became small business owners. Being the co-owner of a business .I was either giving the interview or allowing one of the other owners to give the interview.....I can tell you some things that did not help you get a job in our business....we had a small factory that meant you worked with others.you got dirty from sawdust and sand paper grit,so with that being said ,we still expected you to come to the interview clean,we expected you to sit up straight and answer questions in a clear understandable voice,we expected you to asks questions as well, but most of all we wanted you to remember we were the ones offering the job not you .

Now you have me on a roll....here are some of the type of people that came for interviews

young mothers with children in tow

young men with beer cans in hand

old men with dirty tee shirts and nasty beer breathe

people who told us right off the top they could not work for less then ( you can fill in the amount )because they had a college degree

ladies (use the term lightly ) with halter tops on three sizes to small

older people who let you know that they did not take orders from people younger then them

and of course there were the people that only wanted cash payments because a check meant they would loss their benefit checks

One hour ... in a time machine .....where to?????????????? to the tiny particle of dust just above the beginning of the earth please..front row please...warm cup of coffee please... oh my goodness to sit or stand ?.... ..probably stand it would be a great moment in time .one such always stand at important times......to view the eruption of all ... to hear the tearing of space .... to see and feel the rumble of the power of a new beginning ...watching the earth become earth .... to be able to know what is now and see where it all began .....it is 5 am Alaska time looking out my window right now back here on earth there is a METEOR SHOWER....it is cloudy with some breaks in the dark sky but every now and then one can see a bright flash ....or a streaking star.....one can only envision the beginning with all the flashes and rumbles and eruptions of a new plant in its birth but if one could go back and see this ...our thinking would be so focused on life in a different way ...so fly me to the open spaces of time please .......

What do you want to be remembered for?

Vanity is a real problem isn't it ?To even answer makes me think of being vane ...If I am gone I am gone ...I would not know one way or another whether someone remembered me or not ...

I want it all now , not later...if you like me tell me now ..if my art catches your eyes or heart, you only have tell me now. I may even give you a print....if you are unhappy with me tell me ....maybe I can change....or maybe you can help me change

I would hope I was not living each day to impress someone later....I am probably saying this all wrong ....but it is about now not later ...if you can not get it right here and now , it won't matter later......I don't want to be remembered for anything other then being me ...the me you know right now .....I want to live to be 120 ...right now I am not doing anything out of everyday living to make it a fact ..but that being the case ,I am still trying to be able to reach 120 years of living on this plant....I want to taste foods ,breathe air ,walk on top of mountains and love doing what the camera lens sees or the paint brush and paints imparts on canvas..I want to see things from all sides ,view things from all angles .Paint skies red when they are blue and see into the eyes of others...I want to live not think about death and what someone might think after I am gone .....

Years ago my husband had a eight foot Angel holding a heart carved out of ice in our front yard ...She stood among the trees of our front yard from the day she was finished til well up into April that year...I have photos from the block of ice be dumped in front yard to the day of the final chisel mark ...she will always be in my heart ..she was a gift of love from my husband from the two artist that made her to the many many people who came and sat at her feet and had their photos made.....

Because the term spirit is used in the meaning..I am not sure one can really say they have witnessed it....not sure that even those that face fear head on

thought about being brave ....it is just another term we place on being real to self ... so I have to say anyone I have seen lately is brave ....it take being fearless these days ...the true spirit of the human is to survive and so to me just acting on that spirit is brave ...shall we star a new metal business for being human ...wouldn't that be a hoot...everyday handing someone next to you a metal for just living the day through ...wow might turn the whole world around ....so here my friends is your metal of bravery from me because you are you and by being you and going forward another day and someone's else life have been enriched .......wear it with pride you deserve it

5 Things I'm Looking Forward to This Week

Not sitting up in the mall
For over twenty years we were in the mall with our products...which meant days of standing behind a curtained off area ..getting the shelves together and the products of many artist on the shelves,,,getting all ready for the people that had to shop on the day after turkey day ...five years ago we gave it up and I have not missed it one bit .....

Not cooking from scratch
Yeah ...clapping hands for all the wonderful things in the market place now making it possible to enjoy the day along with others,,,,,

Not playing the guilt game
We no longer have family close enough to worry about the guilt thing of family ..and our children are told not to worry if they can not make it or have to work ...to much guilt is made of other during the holidays for no real reason....

Not shopping on the day after
we have never done this and I don't plan to now when I could ...I hate crowds and after being on the retail side of the game I know there are no.... I repeat NO .... bargains out there .....if someone tells you its 70% off you really should investigate their mark up

Sleeping late ,eat and sleep some more
Have learned to enjoy my age lately ...love getting up when ever the eyes open and taking a nap when ever the eyes say to.... babies have it right from birth....they eat ,sleep ,cry, go potty , eats some more, sleep some more ,then do it all over again....... yeap can't wait

Technology I Can't Live Without

What's one piece of technology you can't live without?

Just like a few others here ....finding it hard to live with out certain technology items is not hard at all.After living with my Grandmother for a few years as a child ....taking spit bathes and using a outhouse,seeing meals cooked on wood stove ...having one lone electric light hanging in the kitchen ...nope its not hard to live without any of the many wonderful items which we now find our self having.......but....could feel a knot of fear at the thought of having the newest camera taken away ..it has become part of my body.. its intertwine with my hand and finger..involved in my heart and mind ..find my eye becoming itchy at the mere though of not having the viewfinder with in inches of my eyes..... the wonderful wonders of see the photo the second you take it and having the power to change it and redo it is way to wonderful

Have you ever had to go without it? Yes, forgetting to charge battery ,plus only having one battery found myself having to take another camera. What happened?Spent the day cussing self .

What's the lesser of two evils: Body odor or bad breath?

Now you have done it Plinky ....you made me have to pull out the thing that helps relieve all angry .....I pulled out the little machine that helps one get rid of pills bumps on sweaters....I mean really who thinks up these prompts..First I don't feel the word evil fits either..... anyway ..In Alaska we are a different breed of people ...nine months out of the year we are over dressed even if you are using the layering method...and boots smell because they are worn all the time ..and in and out of warm places causes one to sweat... guessing the nice word would be perspire .......in the summer we are either camping or gardening and fighting off mosquitoes ,,,,, so don't wear a lot of perfume or deodorant because in summer it seems to attract the mosquitoes ...so here one learns to stand at distance in either season and carry lots of tick tacks in case you run into a movie star or ex governor ......So really I am not offended by either ....Guess it takes all kinds of people in life.

My Boredom Cures

How do you cure boredom?Plinkuy again you ask the inner self question ...but I needed to know what boredom is...so searched the wikipedia and it says Boredom is an emotional state experienced during periods lacking activity or when individuals are uninterested in their surroundings.....hum?that about sums up me ......when there needs to be thinking through things or one has grown tired of every day things... I iron............I pull out the ironing board and the iron and the stack of clothes in the ironing basket get a once over....while ironing I talk to myself or scream out things to the non existent person in the room...on and on til the basket is empty or the problem is ironed out in myself ...

And what's your Plan B if you find you're still bored?I add music to the mix and dance around while ironing ....

Today my thing is about catching the light so that things show up correct in a photo…ha.ha .I know nothing !I tell you! I know nothing at all about it ..I just try hard to get what I see to come out in the photo…I could not tell you how to do it even if I tried…..here are a few tries to capture snow ..they are not great but I did get the snow ….

I am just a lady with a really great camera..trying to capture my world the best I can….so today my camera only pointed out the kitchen window and tried to capture mother nature doing her thing ,,,,,guess I should clean the kitchen window huh?

Here are a few photos of Gun Sight Mountain on the Glenn Highway in Alaska,,,the forces of nature cut a square of the top of the mountian which looks like a gun sight...things like winds and ice and extreme temps ,rivers and streams make this type of thing happen to the mountains in the area .....fall colours were just coming into the area as we were traveling around the highway ...I took the bottom photo into my photo program and tried film grain and black and white ...

Good Bye Thanksgiving and Christmas

Well the day arrived last week , we said good bye to Thankgivings and Christmas.It was a long time coming .We fed them ,watered them, even taught them to make warning sounds if any thing or anyone came around ...but it was time for them to go ...any longer and neither would have fit into the freezer or the stove...
Son had to do the killing ..we all had grown to love them...It is hard to raise food ...

I have been a way a very long time..Sorry I became a new grandmother, travelled around the state of Alaska many times and started new blogs.....clicking so many photos along the way ...but being ever so tired....I don't have jet lag I just have LAG big time...here is hoping to catch up soon...I have learned all about Facebook Farmville,making screen prints from my own photos,laws of blogging,typing with fingers that don't want to work and just life in general.....learning to use Plinky and wordpress.com and the ends and outs of husband raising chicken in Alaska...I am Back

Yellow Ice was taken at the Lakes main gate right after the first snow .....The plants were still covered with ice and were just beginning to thaw......trying to get down to the level the plant....

Main computer with all my programs was hit by a bad program( new upload for a protection program) and we have been working on getting it fixed ..looks like a new computer is on it's way to our house....
so I am working on laptop for the next week ...
But there is some good news we managed to save all photos Yeah but so far only half the business info for taxes ,,,looks like a lot of midnight work to bring all business info back to normal....and life goes on as normal .....

Can not keep up '

Went on a Walk about yesterday with a really great group of Flickr Friends...went to a local park ..walked a trail and saw birds and reflection ponds,,,a tree that a beaver had chewed on .....
Again I feel like a real dumb bunny ..get everything ready and forget water ...over weight people(ME ) for sure ..should never leave home for a hike with out water....you can survive off your fat but die from lack of water ......

The flowers shown tonight are from months and months of taking a photo here and there ..The Calla Lilly was taken in Front of the green house in North Pole,,,It is yellow in full color but I wanted to see it in Black and white .....the Pink flower is a macro of a wild rose that grows in my backyard.... the last flower was on a sale rack in front of LOWES.....hope you enjoy tonight's log..I really must learn to use all my cameras and take more photos..i always carry the cameras but get excited and rushed and forget them....why? i plan everything down to recharging batteries and carrying extra disks but then i forget ...or can not be bothered why? tonight i went searching for tree sap to shoot but could not find any low enough to shot ...Now I know I am going off deep end here searching for sap......

Hectic Week

Sorry I have been off and on in my post ..It is that time of year..things medical with husband a daughter... garden is finished ..just have to turn the soil and add fish bone ... now to get lights up around the place before the first cold ......No one wants to hang lights for Christmas season once the temps are 30 below ??????????

Been out because of something that happen while I was coughing ...Seems i pulled some muscle ..It felt like fire and a knife sticking in my back,,after a few days of pain pills and lots of drug induced sleep I feel a lot better..I am so mad that I have missed posting but I guess there was a reason to rest ,,,,,

This little photo Yesteryear was taken up the road from where I live...What an adventure to get this photo ..the land is fenced off ....they have 8 watch dogs ... a triple fence with and electric fence on top ....so I am standing on road way trying to get photo through the fences ....out comes the owner screaming because I am making the dogs bark...what a fun adventure ...Question to the world "If you don't want people to view your art what is the use?"

I truly love black and white as that is where I was going when I first got my hands on a 35 mm years and years ago ,,,,,,use to develop in the kitchen after everyone went to bed ...had a darkroom and everything but life happen and it all went by the way side

August Christmas

August Christmas was taken this week on our day trip around the heart of Alaska ..35 miles in from the Cantwell side of the Denali Highway sitting beside the road ...some brave soul decorated a tree still growing on the tundra with all this beauty..It was a real surprise on this long gravel road ..Hubby and I laughed the whole trip ..just thinking of the person fighting mosquitoes, black fly as they hung the pretty balls and other decorations ..what a joyful thing it was to behold Christmas wishes of someone in August

This has been a really slow day ..everyone has the blues ....or sleepy time not caring ....the smoke has lifted out and the rain has really greened everything back up ...

Home Again (missed yesterday )

We got up yesterday and both hubby and I decided we needed a break..loaded truck ,got gas and off we went ..on the trip we saw moose , eagles , squirrels,hare,and out on
the tundra we saw a decorated tree( another days story )..someone in fun had brought decorations miles and stopped and decorated a tree....we laughed about it for the rest of the trip tomorrow I will post some pics of the tree but for tonight i wanted to share a little fun photo I did with a reflection picture hope you enjoy them...at the end of a long ride in the late even we began to see reflections in the many very still ponds along the road .....we stopped an I took many different shots ..these are fun play by turning the photo on it's side and look at the results ....

First Photo Is Little Miss Two Bits was born out in the wild and came to us at 50 below zero and was captured by us ...she was so close to death even the vet was crying when she moved on the table ...the cold made her lose her ear tips and half her tail ...

Second Photo is Theo the man ..is a kitten that was born of a stray in our house in the closet ..His mommy just appeared at door one morning came in and made herself at home ...

Third Photo is Mr.Tips came walking out of the woods last spring half dead ,,,he had been walking a long time ...he had worn the pads off his toes...he is Little Miss Two Bits buddy

Today has been a little better air wise ..It began raining last night and is still raining at 3:30 this afternoon,,,,,,,,
I am sharing a few of my friends today ...Here is Mr Tips. Little Miss Two Bits and Theo the man ..all three picked us ..they all three come with long tales of woe and excitement ....we could not think of life without them ....

Found this feather outside in the yard .. loved the way the dew and sun were working together ,,,,not having my camera with me... picked it up and brought it in the house to try to get the same thing later in the day ...well lesson learned ..when one finds a jewel in nature ...go get the camera you paid for and take the picture ..leave nature to nature and do not try to be mother nature ,,,here is my try ...

we washed the car,truck and even the mailboxes and still no rain ,,,,,we really need the rain ..grass is dying, garden is burning up ......trees are turning ....please send some rain,,,,, old wives tale ..need rain just wash your car on a sunny day .....oh my can we say we did that ..is anyone paying attention up there in the rain department ...helloooooooooooo....
photos are from a green house visit in the early spring ...even now the water drops are on the edges of the strawberry plant leaves..yes each morning in the green house the plants are covered with drops of dew....I love black and white photos they make one have to think .....

Good morning today I read the paper ( not good ) they are so party led ...watch the morning news ..Hummm makes one scared ,,,,, drank few cups of coffee and worked with photos on Flcikr ...wondering why I even try...bought the Glenn Beck book Common Sense ,,,another thought about why ???

Going now to finish bowls in shop and maybe take a break and shoot some good things(photos that is )))):)today such be fun still lots of smoke ...but it has cooled off ...last night when going to Fairbanks the sun was so red from all the smoke and dirt in the air ...reminded me of the words of a song " the sun was red and going down .....

Friday and the skies are still filled with smoke and heat and heat.....can we please have a little rain????????????
The locksmith came in a record breaking 20 minutes and we had both sets of keys..

Today is again smoke filled sky's and hot ...today we took some shots of the garden ...here is few of Jerry in the rows of peas.....

he loves standing in his garden and eating the peas right off the vine ......
i managed to lock both sets of truck keys in the truck ...but thank goodness we had roadside service and could get it unlocked ..I feel so stupid .....up side to all is that it was a good day today ......

Today is so smoky here ..the air could be cut with a knife ....I wish I was on the highway where this shot was taken ..even though the road is always dusty... the stream is always fresh and nice to sit beside ......I love the black and white effect on nature it always makes me have to decide the colors of nature

almost did not log in today ...felted bowls,paid bills,try as i may I feel very sleepy today ..I wanted all day to jump in truck and speed away but did n;t so only have file photo tonight ..I want my car fixed now I am so not happy with depending on others to travel ...

Green With Envy was taken in back yard ...with new lens ..learning to back way back ...wow i managed to catch these little guys .......Fire weed is my favorite flower its a weather vane ...when the last bud at the top has bloomed and the seed pods explode at the bottom fall is not far off...Thank goodness we are still in the bud stage but it won't be long ......

Today will be spent putting up veggies and working again in bowl shop ...still smokey and ash falling every now and then .....new laptop and new lens a real joy ..finally got laptop caught up with bookmarks and info .. waiting on the portable memory bank ...if you are reading here let me know ...

The new lens is going to get a little getting use to ..this is one of the play shot i took yesterday ....I feel it has a little to much shake..but we will give it a hard try ....It is lot to get over point and shoot ..but i am trying ...new laptop arrived as well ..scared of it as well..trying to make myself use it but it is so much easier to come here to PC and play .....had to order a 500 GB USB 2.0 My Passport™ Essential™ Portable Hard Drive from Western Digital.. because I plan to travel with my photo work next year .....

First photo of water drop was when I was
Just waiting for new lens and playing with setting on new camera .....this was my first try at getting a real refraction in a water drop ...went into green house with camera and spray bottle of water to get this shot ...this was the only shot as a bee and i decided the need to part company ,,,,,,,bee won greenhouse I left ,,,, have ideas now and will be playing later in day from now on....
The second photo was...macro of vine tendril... Amazing things a foot in a greenhouse ..these little guys are so amazing to me ...they seek and latch on and pull the heavy plants skyward ...and they are so tender and soft ..but i am really glad they aren't bigger they could be a force to be wary of....

I started this to help draw attention to my Flickr account ..Hoping to gather more views and maybe stand a chance in EXPLORE. Although I have 51 explore photos ..I am greedy and want more ...
My Photo Stream is well over 1000 and there are many growth between the picture upload and now
Hard to understand why I am greedy about Explore .I know there is nothing won by being in Explore and its a lot of work to get a photo seen..But my long time dream is to be a sought after camera person ....still not sure why ..I knew when i saw these gloves hanging there that it was a photo opp..but the sun was wrong and the new camera was set on the wrong iso ....but others saw the same thing I saw ..the everyday things we do in life that mean something to someone else ...To me this picture screamed family .. from the littlest glove to the large one ..love how the largest pair surrounds the smaller gloves ..ie FAMILY TIES

yesterday Jan 22,2009,,,,,,this mommy moose was in my back yard eating willow buds and birch twigs ...she has a young calf but he was deeper into the brush and I could not get any pictures of him.......
